Overview: Peace and Emergency Action Coalition for Earth (P.E.A.C.E. Inc) and the global Sustainable Peace and Development (SPD) program
Peace and Emergency Action Coalition for Earth (P.E.A.C.E. Inc) is a 501(c)(3) private non-profit corporation established 3-12-98, EID 74-288 8837. P.E.A.C.E. Inc designs global sustainable peace and sustainable development programs, and assists in their implementation at colleges, universities and in Oasis complexes (briefly described below).
The SPD program was created to respond to the need for a new institution of peace that would engage the energy of the future leaders of the world during their college and university years. The goal is to guide them to self-discovery of their potential to take responsibility and action to assure that they will have a safer and more inhabitable world in which to manifest their individual genius in a civil society.
Each SPD host university will be given a powerful software system modeled on the U.S. Pentagon’s global Command, Control, Communication, and Intelligence system, but obviously with vastly different intended use and outcome. This software system will support research and education in peace studies, conflict resolution, and the introduction of cultural sensitive, environment enhancing technologies key to sustainable development.
The software will also support planning and execution of regional strategic peace games; support humanitarian disaster relief operations, and support a regional and global Indications and Warning system of potential crises. These functions will be carried out in the classroom and in a Peace Room where the ambiance will be proactive work for peace with justice, and sustainable development reflecting a transforming economic system that meets the needs of all members of society.
A plan to develop an interdependent global system of Oases consisting of tourist destinations around the world, complete with industrial parks, international airports, full service medical hospitals and clinics practicing integrated medicine, primary and secondary schools, and technical colleges is under development. Each Oasis will have a Center for Sustainable Peace and Development at its heart complete with encircling consulates for countries invited to and willing to participate in this unique plan to further the cause of global peace. The Oases’ Centers will link up with the Global network of University based Peace Rooms described above.
The SPD program with its Peace Room in the Oasis system will have a special focus of coordinating technological needs and availability within the region. A professional staff will maintain an inventory of the region’s technological base and needs. They will facilitate the introduction of culturally sensitive technology and services from the private sector, international aid organizations and NGOs. Students from regional SPD host universities will intern with Oasis staff to gain real world experience in the complexities of sustainable development.
Matriculating students in SPD programs will become business leaders, and leaders in all areas of government. They will carry with them the knowledge and experience of what is possible and that simply enduring endemic problems is not only dangerous, but also unnecessary.
Two embedded programs in the SPD program give it special reach and power. The University/College Partners in Peace program is a global link for SPD host schools that brings global faculty and students together to share and assist in implementing the SPD. The Corporate Partners in Peace program is a vehicle to garner support for SPD host schools from the private sector.
